Nerdy Tapestry by eqos Nerdy Tapestry by eqos
Because, if liking the Bayeaux Tapestry isn't nerdy enough, I drew some favorite nerdy scenes in Bayeaux Tapestry style. Yes, I did get the idea from someone else somewhere (not sure where), but I drew these myself. I wanted to do a LOTR scene as well, but I the only scene I wanted was them tossing the ring into Mount Doom, and I already have 2 people falling off things. Also, in case I ever decide to embroider this, this is all that will fit on my fancy piece of Irish embroidery linen.

I had a friend who is learning Latin translate the phrases.

Non, ego sum pater tuus: No, I am your father
Imo, non es verus: No, it's not true
Fiat rem interfectus esse: Let the thing be destroyed (JK's translation of "Avada Kedavra")
Malus lupus: Bad wolf
Arca vigile: Police box
Publica arcesso: public call (you can't read it on this image, but it's on the tardis.)

This is great! I commend your creativity. I love the Bayeaux tapestry and all Old English history. You could do very well if you create a shirt or coffee mug, etc. I know I would order it.

Dumbledore doesn't look a lot like himself, though. Vader and Luke were much more recognizable.

Yeah, I think I should draw his beard longer, and a longer robe. And I'm not too happy with the design of the tower, so maybe I'll redraw that whole section.

Hi !
I like the concept of a nerdy Bayeux Tapestry !
Yesterday I used the starwars part of your drawing as a cover photo on facebook (You have the credits in the description, don't worry ;-) ) and the success is here : it was shared 816 times in 24h ! I was thinking that you would like to know it.

I think that one of the best LOTR scenes is Gandalf shouting "You shall not pass" to the Balrog in the Moria. "Non passare potest", I believe.

Excuse my poor english, and thanks for your job : I'm doing living history, and your patterns are great.

Oh yeah, I should totally do that Balrog scene for a LOTR drawing! Thanks! That's really awesome about the facebook shares. It didn't get that many when I posted it  ah well :)

So cool! :D

Would you object if others (specifically me) used parts of this for their own embroidery projects?

(I'd need to figure out what I want it on, but I'm quite fond of the Star Wars scene.)

Hmm. If you redraw it instead of copying straight from my lineart, then yes. Got to spread the nerdiness!

Just so I'm clear on your definition of redraw... I would have to do a freehand copy first and use that as opposed to transferring the lines from a printed sheet?

Thank you!

Actually, I don't care that much, you can just transfer the image. :)
