So here it is! My much-anticipated Viking/Norse garb. Just the basics shown here, none of the jewelry attached.

Smock: Made of white 100% linen, used this pattern: [link] The seams are mostly constructed by flat felling, but the side and underarm seams are French seams.

Gown: Made of green 100% wool in a lighter weight, decorated with ribbon along the front of the bodice, and on the sleeves. Used this pattern: [link] The seams are mostly constructed by flat felling, but the side and underarm seams are fake French seams. (I don't remember the real term for those.)

Napron: Made of blue 100% wool felt. The seams are all flat-felled. Used a pattern I drafted (no longer available on DA)

That's a very cool ensemble. I bet it's nice and warm too, with those lovely layers. Very nice.

Really cool, I like the layers and the fit on you as well as the choice of colours.

If, for instance,
One sunny morning god disappeared and everyone went crazy,
I'd take a picture in rememberance.
oh... this uses that same shoulder seam curve that your patterns show?

Wow, you are amazing for doing this! I've really been wanting to know what real viking women wore, and now I do :D! Thanks you and you did a wonderful job!

Thanks very much. When I starting researching the Viking clothes I realized that I really loved it, and it was totally different than the popular representations. There are a few good websites for doing research on this era.

Yes I've seen some of those sites, but none of them had any real examples of the typical female attire. Thanks for the info :)

It's really hard to find representations of viking women's wear with fitted sides. I think one of the only finds was at... Birka, no? Anyhow, good job, and I know of a few sites that sell lovely replicas of viking tortoise brooches for the shoulders (affordably priced) if you want ^_^
