This has been one of my favorite skirts since being made. It has pockets!
It has an underlayer of silver fabric, and a sheer black outer with sequins and floral embroidery (in black).
Pattern: Simplicity 3754 Pattern Description: Misses Slim and Flared Skirts, Each in Two Lengths Pattern Sizing: I made size 16, I don't remember why, I must have been paranoid about 14 being too small. Size 16 ended up being just barely too big though. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Pretty much. Were the instructions easy to follow? They were pretty intuitive, and it made the perhaps more complicated steps (the fly, the pleats, the binding on the pocket, if you're not familiar with how to do them) very easy to understand. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It goes together quickly, and looks awesome. I like the amount of cool details you can have. It seems my only complaint is that it was strange to fit the pieces onto 2 yards of fabric, and I ended up using other fabric for the pocket lining because I couldn't fit it on. Bear in mind that I never so much as glance at the suggested layouts. Fabric Used: 1 layer of silver weave, don't know the fiber content, and 1 layer of black sheer with sequined embroidery, don't know the fiber content. Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Used two layers of fabric, didn't line the waistband because I couldn't fit that piece twice onto the fabric. (Had I been thinking, I could have managed it anyway, but I was stupid at the time). Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I've already done both! I made another one for my friend, and it was incredibly simple to size up. Conclusion Cute skirt, great pattern.
